This multi-purpose center has a meeting room, kitchen facilities, and a computer lab with controlled internet access and Wi-Fi. There is also an outdoor playground, volleyball net, soccer goals, gaga ball pit, basketball courts adjacent to the facility, and a Wi-Fi table all for public use.

  • Facility may close early on occasion due to a special event or rental.

Rental Fees

The following applies to the rental fees of our community/recreation centers:

  • A 2-hour minimum is required for most rentals.
  • Rules apply for decorations and heavy kitchen use/additional $25.00 cleaning fee may apply based on type of rental.
  • A deposit of $50.00 is due at the time the reservation is made to secure the date of your desired rental, with the remaining balance due at least three (3) business days prior to rental date. Renters must visit the center in person, pay a $50.00 deposit and sign a rental agreement to secure rentals.
  • Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made less than thirty (30) days in advance = 25% of deposit retained by Recreation and Parks.  Cancellations made less than fourteen (14) days in advance = 100% of deposit retained by Recreation and Parks.

MLK "Living the Dream" Enrichment & Afterschool Programs

Students must be registered before attending afterschool programs. Please note: when Alcoa schools are closed, the center will be open to students at 2:00 pm. Snacks provided.

  • Tutoring Program (Kindergarten through Grade 12): Activities include tutoring, assistance with homework and school projects, and recreational games.
  • Girls, Inc. Computer Lab Outreach Program (Ages 6-18): This program offers STEM-related programs (science, technology, engineering and math), a reading comprehension program, arts & crafts, and indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
  • Chess Club (Boys and Girls of all Ages)

Senior Program

Recreational activities for seniors Age 55 & older including line dancing, yoga, arts & crafts, walking club, chair exercises, sports activities, educational classes, and more. A senior group of pickleballers meet at Bassel Courts on Mondays & Thursdays at 8:30AM.

Youth Summer Camp

Summer Day Camps for Ages 6–12.  Activities include a Literacy program, computer lab, swimming, field trips, outdoor activities, games, arts & crafts, and more! Breakfast and lunch provided.  Children should dress comfortably and bring a water bottle each day.

Emancipation Day Celebration

Emancipation Day is the day the Slaves were set free in Tennessee and Kentucky! Come celebrate with vendors, food trucks, face painting, educational programs, and much more! The bus will be leaving at 9:00 AM to go to the Tri-County African American Cultural Museum. The bus will return at 1:00 PM.

H.O.M.E for the Holidays

H.O.M.E. (Hall-Oldfield-Maryville Empowerment) and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center partner for this annual community celebration to kick-off the Christmas holidays. Join us for family fun and light refreshments. If you choose to put a tree in the lower field, please do so prior to the event with the last day being November 28th.
