Community / Recreation Centers
COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTERS Center Rental Information
The following applies to the rental fees of the
following three community recreation centers. ·
An advance deposit of the total rental is due when making reservation,
with the balance being due seven (7) days prior to use of the facility. ·
Cancellation over thirty (30) days in advance – full refund minus a $5.00
processing fee. ·
Cancellation less than (30) days in advance – 75% refund. ·
Cancellation less than fourteen (14) days in advance – no refund.
This center offers basketball
and volleyball courts and a variety of children’s activities. Meeting rooms and
a gymnasium are available for rental. See rental information below. For rentals
and reservation inquires, please call the Center at 983-6264. The Center opens at 3 PM Monday-Friday. Closing times vary according to scheduled
activities. Rental fees for
Meeting Room 202 $20.00
per hour (2 hr. minimum) Meeting Room 206 20.00 per hour (2 hr. minimum) Meeting Room 205 30.00 per hour (2 hr. minimum) Half of Gymnasium 30.00 per hour Whole Gymnasium 50.00 per hour Entire Facility 75.00 per hour Special Party
Rate:
$75.00 for 2-hour rental, includes use of half of gymnasium and half of balcony
or Room 205 *Parks & Rec. reserves the right to reserve the full
gymnasium during operating hours for in-house programs. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. COMMUNITY CENTER
This
multi-purpose center has meeting rooms, kitchen facilities, computer room with
internet access and a games area with foosball, table tennis, bumper pool, and Playstation games. There is also an outdoor playground and
a horseshoe pit. Hours of Operation: For
information on Fall–Winter operating hours,
please call the Center at 983-1954. Rental Fees for Small Meeting Room: $20.00 per hour (2 hr.
minimum) Entire Facility: $40.00 per hour (2 hr. minimum) All weekday rentals (Monday-Friday)
must be after 6:30 PM. Upcoming programs and events being held at the center: August 9 – Emancipation Day – 8:00 AM – 8:00
PM This day is recognized as a day of celebration for
slaves having been freed. This day is
called many different things and is generally celebrated in August. August 16 – Alcoa Biker Brothers Kidds Bash –
12:00-5:00 PM Free to all children. This day involves food, fun, and games, and
allows bikers to share motorcycle safety information. Enrichment Tuesdays 5:00-7:00 PM Free. New Visions Ministries sponsors this event
which includes crafts, singing, drama, fun, fellowship, and tutoring and help
with homework on a regular basis. Dinner
is also provided. September 8, 15, 22 & 23 – 6:30-8:30 PM Parenting
Classes “Getting Kids Ready for the Real World” by Dr. Jerry Carroll. Childcare
provided by Brenda DeWart for small children. September 13 – Self Defense Class – Time to be
announced. Free. October 11 – Bessie This annual event honors
local, well-known, self-taught folk artist Bessie Harvey with a public gallery
of her work. This center located in the
Karate classes, art classes and
the Wagon Wheelers Western Square Dance Group meet on a regular basis at the
Center. |
