Fall Class Registration & Open House
This kindergarten readiness program is open to children Ages 4-5 and provides developmentally-appropriate learning activities that focus on social, recreational and education skills. Classes run 10 months per year; August through May. The maximum class size is 12 and spaces are filled on a first come-first served basis. Children must be 4 years of age within 3 months of the program start date and completely toilet-trained.

KARATE INSTRUCTION
Parks & Rec. has partnered with the Maryville Isshinryu School to offer the following classes to youth and adults. This school, the oldest in Blount County, is the only school accredited by the International Isshinryu Karate Association. Benefits of Karate include self-defense, as well as increased flexibility, concentration, balance, self-discipline and self-respect.

FALL YOUTH SOCCER
Be a part of the world's most popular sport! Youth soccer is an excellent way to develop motor skills. This program is available to boys and girls Ages 5-16. Each participant will play in every game. Younger age groups will play "small-sided" soccer.

- Children are placed on teams according to their age and school.
- Children Ages 5-12 will be placed on an all-boys/all-girls team. Ages 13-16 will play co-ed.

SOCCER FOR FUN
For 4-Year Olds
Soccer for Fun is a fundamental, non-competitive introduction to the game of soccer and a great way to introduce your child to this popular sport. Children will be involved in drills along with playing small-sided scrimmage games. Shin guards are required.

HIP HOP DANCE CLASSES
For Boys & Girls Ages 5 & Up
Does your child enjoy hip hop dance reality shows? If so, have them join the fun in learning some new hip hop moves! This class offers a great exercise workout in a fun and exciting atmosphere! Students will learn a routine filled with new hip hop and break dancing moves choreographed to a clean and edited music mix. GYMNASTICS
MOVEMENT, MUSIC & MORE
For Ages 18 Months - 5 Years
These classes include fun, monthly themes that let your child learn the fun sport of gymnastics while expanding their imaginations. Music is used to expand on each month's theme with dancing, singing, rhythm sticks, and musical instruments. Brain Power and brain building exercises are incorporated each month to stimulate left and right brain activity, sensory awareness, fine motor skills, and kindergarten readiness skills. Gymnastic Skills are taught in proper progressions on bright, colorful preschool equipment, with all equipment designed and sized for young hands and feet. Participants will learn beginner through intermediate skills on bars, beams, trampolines, and vaulting, as well as learn and enhance many of the gross motor skills needed. Classes are taught by qualified adult instructors, each with over 20 years of teaching experience.

BEGINNER TUMBLING CLASS
For Ages 5-10
This class is designed for school age children to teach the beginning skills of tumbling. These skills include cartwheels, round-offs, handstands, rolls and bridges. Emphasis is placed on correct form and progression. Each student is taught at their own level of development and will leave feeling good about their achievements.

BACKHANDSPRINGS & MORE
For Ages 5-10
This class is designed to teach the more advanced skills of the backhandspring, round-off backhandsprings, standing backtuck and front handsprings. Students in this class should have a good round-off and be able to do a back walk-over with a spot. Drills such as handstands, bridge kick-overs and jump backs will be repeated in this class to help students become a stronger tumbler.

START SMART
For Ages 3-5
This program prepares children Ages 3-5 for organized sports without the threat of competition, as well as teaching them motor skill tasks that gradually build confidence. The focus will be on throwing, kicking, catching, and batting. Each child must be accompanied by an adult who is able to participate and assist child in class activities. Program times are great for both working parents and stay at home caregivers.

YOUTH FOOTBALL
Teams begin recruitment of players in late January. Spring practice will begin February 8th and will continue through March 27th. After spring practice, teams will not practice again until July 26th. The Jamboree is scheduled for August 14th with the season beginning August 23rd. The Super Bowl, which concludes the season, is tentatively scheduled for October 30th. For more information regarding teams in your area, contact the Parks & Rec. Office at 983-9244.

YOUTH BASKETBALL
Available to youth Ages 6-17. Every effort is made to educate participants in the game of basketball while having fun. An all-girls league is offered and each child will play each game. Teams will play an 8-game season with games being played on Saturdays.

BASKETBALL "FOR FUN"
For 5-Year Olds
Basketball for Fun is a low-key, non-competitive approach to the game of basketball. Available to boys and girls 5 years old, this is a great introductory approach to learn the fundamentals of the game. The program meets for one hour on Saturdays for six (6) weeks at the Everett Recreation Center.
